Description

Rwanda Abakundakawa coffee is a highly regarded, specialty-grade Arabica coffee known for its complex fruity, floral, and sweet flavor profile. The name “Abakundakawa” translates to “We Who Love Coffee,” which reflects the passion of the cooperative that produces it.

The Abakundakawa Rushashi cooperative, located in the mountainous Gakenke district of the Northern Province, represents over 2,000 small family farms. The cooperative is a powerful example of community development and women’s empowerment in post-genocide Rwanda, focusing on quality coffee production as a path to reconciliation and economic stability.

Grown at altitudes between 1,700 and 2,000 meters above sea level in rich volcanic soil which contributes to a coffee with a bright acidity, medium body, and a complex array of flavor notes. Including: nectarine, papaya, red currants, blackberry, brown sugar, baking chocolate, hibiscus, jasmine, and honeysuckle.
